Childhood

This photo illustrates the fragmentation between childhood in the homeland and childhood away from home.

Through the fragmentation of the past and present, emerges a liminal space in which the past is remembered. This liminal boundary is seen through the red line that is apart of the Sri Lankan border.

As well, the border is seen to divide the modern child from the plant, but integrates the plant with the child of the past. In doing so, this is representative of the hybridization of past memories with nature as a method of remembering ancestral homes and the land that these children were meant to be raised on.
